Simple Self-Care for Everyday Living
There is so much going on in the world these days. We are way too busy and often times do not have enough time to take care of ourselves. How can we add a little self-care into our lives?
One of my very favorite things to do is to meditate. I believe meditation is the most valuable tool that we have to help us stay connected with Spirit and that part of us that is closest to God, or the Universe.
Spending time in prayer and contemplation is also very valuable and will help you have inner peace and feel good. Prayer and contemplation will also help you process things going on around you and also connect you on a deeper level with God or the Universe, whatever your belief is.
I realize it is difficult in our world, but limiting our exposure to the media, news and programming, even Facebook can be very helpful. We live in the real world and need to be somewhat aware of what is going on; however we do not need a steady diet of negative things in our awareness. Watching this type of programming can minimize our inner peace and leave us feeling down and depleted.
Spending time with people who help uplift our spirits is always helpful. Not all of us are fortunate enough to be around people who inspire us and feed us all of the time and so it is important to spend time with those who do when we can and enjoy that time. If we have a family member or co-worker who tends to push our buttons, it is important to address it if necessary, and then let go as when we focus on others negativity we will energetically attract them doing more things that upset us. When someone does something that upsets you, instead of focusing on it, just send them loving energy and notice how the energy shifts.
Doing something that is fun for us and feeding ourselves is also important. This is a big part of self-care as when we do not do things that feed our spirit and help us offload the negative energies of the day, we will be depleted and will tend to attract more negative things into our life. This form of self-care could be as simple as going for a walk, talking with a friend, taking a bath, or being in nature for a little while. You might consider making a list of things that feed you so that you can refer to it when you have a few minutes.
Our personal energy pattern will always help us in our daily lives, as whatever we put out into the universe will come back to us. So if we are feeling angry and frustrated, we will energetically attract more things to be angry and frustrated about back into our lives. When we are kind and live in love and appreciation, we will attract more love and appreciation into our lives. So it really is important that we take care of ourselves.
